Crafting The New

Cool Hunting: Designer Jonathan Nesci—whose Library Bookcase won recognition last year for his use of metal from Wallpaper Magazine—is back with a solo show entitled “The New” at a recently-developed design gallery in his hometown of Chicago.

Nesci explains that he designs his minimalist furniture to encapsulate mid-century aesthetics, and the matte white finish helps it to blend into its surroundings while adding a tasteful understatement. Drawing on everyday forms (a curb, a streetlight) the 31-year-old designer crafts his work using concrete and metal—industrial materials are as banal as his sources of inspiration.
