Air Con Dog House

aircondoghouse.jpg

Nerd Approved: As if your pet isn’t pampered enough, you can get it this Air Conditioned Dog House and get them one step closer to your sedentary self. You could take the simpler and cheaper route of just letting the dog stay inside, unless that conflicts with your own sedentary lifestyle. Getting up to let them out a couple of times is pretty hard work. But the only question that matters is, “Whose dog deserves to live in an air conditioned house?”

Dog Poop Cleanup Aid

dogpoop.jpg

ProductDose: I love dogs. I hate picking up dog poop. This Poop Freeze product doesn't make the poop go away but at least it removes that steaming, mushy texture that still makes you feel gross even through the plastic bag. It freezes the droppings so you can just pluck it up without having to deal with scraping it from the ground. The spray is grass and environmentally safe.

Simple Dog Vitamin

TrendCentral: Anyone whose family includes a dog knows that getting Fido to take his vitamins is even harder than getting the kids to eat spinach. Rather than having to shove a horse pill down your dog's throat or "hide" it in its food only to have it spit out, these innovative new vitamins from OVN can be added straight to the waterbowl or poured over food. And because they come in flavors like chicken, bacon jerky, and liver, your dog will be able to stay healthy and happy.

Feeling Cool

ChillyPacks.jpg

Popgadget: My poor dog, Zach, has been mostly indoors for the last couple of weeks due to the heat wave. He just loves to come everywhere with me, but I dare not leave him in the car while I run errands or even take him on long walks. We might both pass out on the sidewalk.

While this ChillyDog vest won't help me much, it might keep Zach cool enough to go around the block without panting. If I don't make it, he can drag me home and put me in front of the air conditioning vent until I come to. It's a low tech cooling device, basically just ice packs inside of a vest, but not a bad idea really, especially for working dogs who have to be outdoors at times even in this miserable weather.

Canine Care

dogchinrest.jpg

CherryFlava: In the world of gadgets for your car - we just know that nothing is going to sell better than this painfully simple device.

It's no secret that domestic canines simply cannot resist sticking their heads out of the window of a moving vehicle. For whatever reason, they seem to really enjoy the idea of traveling at 700km/h [that's 100km/h in dog speed], ears flapping around like a drag queen at a beauty contest and their eyes appropriately closed in pure bliss - until the car hits a bump in the road....and they bite down on their tongues like a Beeno biscuit.

The Outward Hound Window Dog Chin Rest has therefore been invented to prevent these unfortunate incidents. It slides over the edge of an open window, creating a nice cushion for canine chins.

Timeshare Canine

dog.JPGIconoculture: Leased cars. Vacation condos. And now, timeshare dogs. FLEXPETZ lets dog lovers who don't have the time or space to be full-time pet owners make playdates with dogs from breed-rescue shelters.

FLEXPETZ members pay $40 a month, plus a daily fee, and can reserve their dog of choice online. But before part-time companions start tossing Frisbees to Fido, they must go through mandatory training with a certified FLEXPETZ handler.

Not all dog lovers can care for canine companions 24/7. Renting a favorite breed for a few hours or several days is a great option for consumers who travel a lot or live in buildings that don't allow dogs.

Dogs Beer

kwispelbier.jpg

Popgadget: They say that a woman's best friend is her dog, and those dogs deserve a drink every now and again. A nice young lady from Holland brewed up a nonalcoholic beer for her Weimaraners as a treat for a day's hard work, and now she's selling it as "Kwispelbier" after the Dutch word for a wagging tail. Technically, it isn't a beer at all but more of a non-alcoholic malt liquor flavored with beef extracts. Either way, the dogs love it.

Those of us in the states can purchase doggie beer from the original purveyor: Happy Tail Ale from Dog Star Brewing. The two companies have very similar stories: Young women who loved their dogs and started out brewing small batches on their stovetop that are now selling cases. There's actually a very good reason for going to the trouble to make a beer especially for your dog. The general consensus is that alcoholic beverages designed for humans aren't good for a dog's digestive track, and their smaller size makes them highly prone to alcohol poisoning. However, dogs love the grain flavors in beer.

Orbee-TUFF

arlonaughtyniceprod.jpg
Williamsport Sun-Gadget: The minty-fresh smell of Planet Dog’s Orbee-TUFF balls may just send anyone (even the dog) into the holiday season. I think it’s more the shape than the smell that is special about these toys.

My favorite kinds of Christmas lights are the really big, fat bulbs. They are reminders of lights my grandma and gram used to hang outside during the holidays.

Now dog owners can bring that nostalgic look to their pup’s toy bin.

The Obree-TUFF Bulb with a Treat Spot is a minty- flavored holiday toy for any type of dog who enjoys play.

The bulbs are made from the Orbee-Tuff award-winning material that is doggie-durable, buoyant and bouncy. The bulbs come all sizes for all dogs and in festive red, green and even glow-in-the-dark. They come complete with a silver threaded base. Hollow in the middle, the Treat Spot can be stuffed with favorite treats to keep your dog busy during your holiday fest.

These plush squeakers are embroidered with the words “naughty” and “nice” on each with silver thread. Who needs to wrap these. The two plush toys come packed with holiday glee with decorative “tinsel” in a clear reusable satchel with drawstring closure.

Also, remember during this holiday season that Planet Dog is committed to canine philanthropy. Planet Dog is proud to help spread cheer and goodwill to dogs that serve and support their best friends. A portion of every Planet Dog purchase goes directly to the Planet Dog Foundation, Planet Dog’s non-profit, to support canine service programs.

Dog Scooter

photo_blog_dogscooter.jpgGizmag: This new concept in near zero emission transportation could be just what you’re looking for, though we suspect that parking might be a problem. Seriously though folks, if you have a big dog that often takes you for a walk, here’s a great way to harness all that energy and travel the bike paths of your city at the same time. The manufacturer and inventor Mark Schuette of Oregon claims the human is in total control of the speed and direction of the dog powered scooter because the dog is harnessed inside of the frame and subject to its steering (with 90 degree turns easy) and braking force.

Cool Vest

coolvest.jpg
Dayton Daily News: Just in time for the hot dogs of summer — the Cool Vest.

Originally marketed in Japan, the Cool Vest is now being sold in the United States to keep dogs cool in hot weather. Owners soak the vest in water and it remains wet, allowing the pet to stay cool as the water evaporates and takes away the heat. A laminated liner keeps the dog from getting wet and the special fabric dries slowly, taking up to two hours. It can be re-moistened. The Cool Vest comes in five sizes, two colors.
