An 18 year old prodigy from Guelph, Ontario has built what can only be described as a two-wheeled unicycle. I know it doesn’t make much sense, but when you take a look at this innovative bike you’ll scratch your head too.
The bike incorporates a Yamaha R1 frame, side by side wheels and a Segway like gyroscopic technology. In 2006, after a visit to China, 18 year old Ben Gulak was inspired to build a bike that would contribute to a cleaner future by building an innovative electric commuter device.
Riding the UnoMoto is very simple. The on/off switch is the only electronic control, and once it’s up and balancing, you simply lean forward to accelerate, lean back to brake, and lean sideways to get one wheel turning a little faster than the other, which effectively steers the contraption. At top speed the UnoMoto will do about 25mph, and Gulak says its battery range is around 2.5 hours in normal use. When you switch it off, it rests back on its footpegs.
