While most companies are pushing the envelope with the development of OLED screens, Phillips has decided to take a run at a 56″ true cinema widescreen. That’s a ratio of 21:9.
Using their Ambient RGB back light technology, Phillips is hopefully that movie enthusiasts will be more receptive to dropping the $$ on one of these than on a smaller, albeit much sexier looking, OLED screen.
The screen hits retailers in February. No word yet on pricing. Hopefully, with the arrest of the big LCD makers executives the prices of LCDs will drop the way they should have before “fixed” pricing was decided behind our trusting backs.
I want one. Maybe two.
