5 Steps to the Fortune 500

5 Steps to the Fortune 500

An entrepreneurial mindset is a valuable asset to anyone. It is a mindset that can get you to think in a way that will almost inherently bring some sort of success. However, it is a necessity to anyone thinking of starting their own ideological venture. It is great to think of being your own boss, but it comes with a lot more than just that. No matter whether you want to start a bumper sticker business, jui jitsu dojo, or a non-profit organization, creativity is the factor that brought you to that desire. It is creativity that will propel your desire into a successful reality, but only if you maintain an entrepreneurial mindset.

  1. Goals Create Propulsion

Goals are the most important motivator to any entrepreneur. They are the reason for the decisions you make, creativity you utilize, and hardships you overcome. It has been researched and proven that having short and long term goals is exceedingly important to any venture.

Some common short term goals include obtaining licenses, growing the customer base, and possibly hiring affordable temp services for employee recruiting. Long term goals would be things such as acquiring other companies within the same field and branching out as an international company.

  1. Passion Creates Drive

If you are not an animal lover, then maybe that idea about starting that non-profit animal shelter isn’t the right way to go for you. Regular business employees are generally okay doing work that they don’t like because they want or need the money. That is the opposite of the mindset needed to become a successful entrepreneur. Starting a venture, you are going to need the passion for the business to make it through the rough patches and hardships.

  1. Time-Mindedness Creates Relief

As an entrepreneur, you will not be on a set schedule like someone working at the local grocery store or toy factory. You will be working whenever there is work to be done. Being able to schedule things properly is a must in this department. Without keeping a calendar or datebook of some sort, entrepreneurs run the risk of missing an all important meeting. It is exceedingly important that you are flexible and committed enough to be okay missing dinner with the family to be able to take an hour long phone call from an investor. Staying in this mindset will relieve the stress of being time-stressed.

  1. Education Creates Wisdom

The difference between knowledge and wisdom is crucial to understand. Wisdom is the ability to apply gained knowledge. Entrepreneurs, like Colonel Harlan Sanders who founded KFC, do not need a formal education or degree to make millions; but, again like Sanders, educating yourself about the things you know you will need knowledge of will create the ability to apply that knowledge to your venture.

  1. Discomfort Creates Comfort

Through the months or years it may take to launch a successful venture, your time, finances, and life will be quite uncomfortable for some time. The entrepreneurial mindset will tell you to embrace this discomfort. Why? Fighting it will only lead to more discomfort; plus, that discomfort will eventually pay off, and your venture will create a lifetime of comfort for you and your family. Take Joyce C. Hall for example. Ms. Hall decided not to go to college to begin selling greeting cards. After six long years, Hallmark made its first million. You could imagine how uncomfortable her life was for the first couple of years at least.

The Right Mindset

There are plenty of business mindsets, but there is only one fit for the entrepreneurial lifestyle. This mindset, combined with the will to win, will pave the way for success. It will open the doors needed to propel your venture into the Fortune 500!
